MMCA/STARZ Media Diversity Reception and BMF Press Junket During the 2021 NABJ Virtual Convention
MMCA was pleased to partner with STARZ™ to host its inaugural Media Diversity Excellence Awards Reception during NABJ’s signature annual gathering. Like our Multicultural Media and Correspondents Dinner (MMCD™) and inaugural Sheroes in Media Awards Gala, this Awards Reception honored BIPOC media excellence and highlighted the need for increased media diversity.
The reception featured the presentation of our Newsmaker and Impact Journalist Awards and a moderated discussion with STARZ™ creators and talent about the network’s TaketheLead commitment to amplifying narratives by, about, and for women and underrepresented audiences. The reception also included a fun interactive session that included trivia and a virtual cocktail mixing session led by a celebrity bartender.
MMCA was pleased to also work with STARZ to hold the first ever press junket for multicultural media in advance of the September 26 premiere of the network’s highly anticipated new series BMF (Black Mafia Family).
The Press Junket was oversubscribed and received great reveiws from both the BMF cast and participating journalists. The following are links to some of the coverage of the reception and junket.
