NEW AD AIMED AT ADULTS OVER 50 RELEASED BY U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Ads Began Airing on Today Show, Late Late Show with James Corden and Late Show with Colbert Friday, With Spanish Translation Set To Launch Today

(Washington D.C. - 9.19.22) – Highlighting the importance of getting updated vaccines, especially for older Americans, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a new ad campaign encouraging Americans to get the updated vaccine.

The new ad, “At Risk,” targeting people over 50 years old started airing on the Today Show, the Late Late Show with James Corden, and the Late Show with Colbert on Friday. Today, HHS released the Spanish transcreation of the ad, “En Riesgo,” with a special focus on communities with low vaccine uptake, including rural communities.  The ads are a part of the Administration’s We Can Do This COVID-19 Vaccine Public Education campaign (PEC) rollout of updated vaccines and fall COVID-19 response plan

“Everyone who is eligible to get this free updated COVID vaccine to protect themselves and their loved ones, just as they would get an annual flu vaccine,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra in a statement supporting the new ad campaign.

Directing viewers to visit Vaccines.gov, the “At Risk” ads are the latest step in the HHS vaccine campaign; PEC is a department-wide effort aimed at boosting vaccination rates. The campaign uses partnerships, digital outreach, influencers, and paid media to reach Americans where they are, with a focus on outreach around new authorizations.

To date, PEC has partnered with over 1,000 organizations, the majority of which work with minority or rural communities. These partnerships have reached over 26 million people, resulted in hundreds of events, and over 15,000 vaccinations.
